Are you old enough (as I am) to remember when “Williamsburg colors” were dull, muted, and … well, faded, versions of blue, green, and the like?

I don’t remember how long ago it happened, but I do remember reading that many of the Colonial Williamsburg buildings, including the governor’s palace, were re-envisioned and reinterpreted once the curators realized that the faded-looking colors had, in fact, simply faded over the years.

On Sunday, before heading home from the Carriage Symposium, I was finally able to tour the palace … and all I can say is, wow, do those gorgeous colors POP …

As promised, here are a few photos of the fife-and-drum corps, militia, and cannon demonstrations on the courthouse square, which I happened to see on Friday evening while at Colonial Williamsburg.

The man in this first photo was watching the proceedings as well, from across the street.

I posted this photo yesterday on my personal Twitter page (not the CAA’s Twitter page, at right, which is also “mine” but … as you might image … more driving-related than my own). But I thought you might like to see it here as well.

After our descent last week into the dreaded polar vortex, we were back up near the 50-degree mark over the weekend. And the sun came out yesterday. As I noted when posting the photo, I adore the “leafy” seasons, but I also love bright winter days, when the Kentucky Horse Park’s trees get a chance to show off their underlying structures.

Of course, it was snowing today.

The members of the CAA group have all gone home now.

As a final look at this year’s trip to Argentina, here are a few photos from the group’s visit to Dr. & Mrs. Gibelli’s estancia in Escobar …

While Jill was traveling in Argentina with the CAA group — and emailing photos to me, so that I could share them with you here — she was also uploading other photos to the CAA’s Facebook page. It was there I read that because of all the rain the area’s had recently, the gaucho festival was postponed for a week. Which, unfortunately for our group of CAA travelers, meant that it will take place next weekend, after everyone’s back home. The group’s hosts in the area were left scrambling but found other fun things for the travelers to do that day.

Here are a few of Jill’s photos of San Antonio de Areco, where the festival would’ve taken place. This coming weekend, these quiet streets will be full of horses.
