Two months from today, I’ll be boarding a plane for Germany, on my way to the CAA’s trip to the FEI World Four-in-Hand Championship at Riesenbeck.
Coincidentally, while looking around for something interesting to post on the blog today, I came across three “preview” videos for the upcoming championship, which were all filmed at last year’s Riesenbeck International competition.
I’m going to shamelessly take advantage of the fact that there are three of these, and show you one today, one tomorrow, and one on Thursday. Enjoy!

… is coming up in less than three weeks!
As a preview of this year’s event (at the Kentucky Horse Park, in Lexington, June 29 to July 1), let’s take a look at a few of last year’s entries. These are shown here in the order they were taken, from Friday and Saturday’s ring classes, warm-up, and car show, to Sunday’s carriage “parade” through the Horse Park.
If you’ll be in or near Lexington at the end of the month, join us for more horses, ponies, beautiful carriages (being driven and on display), and antique cars!

Tweet, tweet …
Although I try to include some CAA info and carriage- and driving-related news in my tweets, my Twitter account has become a bit more “mine” than I originally envisioned it being.
And so I thought it was time for the Carriage Association to have its own Twitter page! Here, I’ll include more news from, or specifically related to, the CAA, carriages, carriage-driving, etc. My own three most-recent tweets will still appear on this page, but if you’re interested in up-to-the-minute news from the CAA office and the larger carriage-driving world, I hope you’ll visit the CAA’s new page and/or follow the CAA on Twitter!

I’m cleaning up my office a bit this afternoon … and (finally!) finishing the project of moving in to this office, which I began when Jill and I swapped offices a few several months ago.
And while unpacking some things that had come out of my old desk drawers, I found this wonderful old postcard of a coaching party on Boulevard Drive in Duluth, Minnesota. The image was taken in 1904, and the postcard was sent to its recipient, Miss Frances Kearnes, on February 11, 1907. As the postcard-sender, ACC, wrote, “How would you like to [be] one of this party?”
